Methodology

Our Mina Prosperity Index research methodology includes three phases, similar to the Hamra Prosperity Index research methodology

Phase 1: CONSULTATIONS

Phase 1 consists of consultations with the local community, stakeholders and Citizen Scientists around 5 main Domains:

  • Foundations of Prosperity

  • Opportunities and Aspirations

  • Power, Voice and Influence

  • Health and Healthy Environments

  • Belonging, Identity and Culture

  • In Mina, Phase 1 took place in March 2020. The result of these consultations are site specific indicators that will help develop the questions for the Data Collection. Here they are illustrated in the Mina Flower.

  • What does prosperity mean for people in Mina? This question is explained in the diagram of the Mina prosperity model. In its center, the diagram shows the five broad domains of prosperity. In the middle and outer circle are the measures that people from the Mina community defined as the things that matter to them. These ideas were produced through consultations with local residents, academic expert groups, and Citizen Scientists. Through these consultations, our team was able to elaborate, adapt and contextualize the Prosperity Index for the specific experience of life in the neighbourhood. This model was then used by our team to guide our data collection and to help us design a series of surveys including a household survey, a business and enterprise survey and a study of the quality of local infrastructures and buildings in Mina.
