An introduction to Fast Forward 2030
Fast Forward 2030 was launched to provide a platform and network for entrepreneurs building new kinds of businesses that put sustainability and positive impact at the heart of their business models. It was also launched to inspire more people to tackle problems through innovation and entrepreneurship. Fast Forward 2030 takes inspiration from the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which insist that environmental and social impact must be at the heart of the way we do business.
In London, Fast Forward 2030 has an events series on businesses that are tackling the UN SDGs. It focusses specifically on entrepreneurs with small businesses.
Fast Forward 2030 in Lebanon
We would like to start a similar initiative in Lebanon as part of the RELIEF Centre: a new collaborative research programme lead by the UCL Institute for Global Prosperity, with diverse departments in University College London, the American University of Beirut, and the Centre for Lebanese Studies.
Our intention is to co-develop Fast Forward 2030 with Lebanon-based businesses that can work with the London branch and the RELIEF research team to test new economic models that contribute to the SDGs.
Fast Forward 2030 Lebanon will host an entrepreneurship competition series designed to encourage and grow businesses that have a high social and environmental impact. We will have about five competitions across the five years. They will be open to students, entrepreneurs, and civil society activists to develop enterprises and organisations that contribute to the SDGs.
Roundtable discussion on the 16th March
We would like to call a roundtable discussion so you can help us shape Fast Forward 2030 in Lebanon. Our aims are:
To hear from entrepreneurs who are already building businesses with positive environmental and social impact
To learn from Lebanon-based entrepreneurs about how we can make this initiative as useful as possible
To learn about other initiatives we can collaborate with
We will also have a short discussion about the SDGs in Lebanon, and the role entrepreneurship can play in achieving them.
