In January 2018, UCL's Institute for Global Prosperity (IGP) in collaboration with the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs at the American University of Beirut (AUB) hosted a two-day workshop in Beirut.

In February 2018 members of RELIEF research strand 3, Future Education, went to Lebanon to co-organise a series of meetings and two workshops with colleagues from the American University of Beirut (AUB), Centre for Lebanese Studies (CLS) and Lebanese American University (LAU).

Dr Al Halabi practised as a neurosurgeon and M.D. in Damascus before the Syrian crisis.  He subsequently founded and is now General Director of MAPs (Multi Aid Programs), an NGO working with the Syrian refugee community in Lebanon.

'Public Services and Vulnerability in the Lebanese Context of Large-Scale Displacement' project receives British Academy funding

"Public Services and Vulnerability in the Lebanese Context of Large-Scale Displacement" is a research project designed by Principal Investigator Professor Henrietta Moore (UCL), and Co-Investigators Dr Nikolay Mintchev (UCL), Professor Nick Tyler (UCL), Dr Camillo Boano (UCL), Dr Andrea Rigon (UCL) and Professor Nasser Yassin (AUB), closely aligned with the aims of the RELIEF Centre. In September 2017 it was announced as a successful applicant of the new Cities and Infrastructure research funding programme from the British Academy.
